Musette ‘ Earth Theme ‘ Zero Waste ‘ Nylon Shoulder Bag ‘ Crossbody Bag ‘ Crossbody Purse ‘ Made in USA
The Moonrise Project puts the sustainability message of Diamond Brand Gear into action. The fabric for our American Boro and Rescue series was originally destined for the landfill before we found it and re-purposed it into something new and beautiful!
The theme for this run of Musette’s is the element of earth. We’ve grouped our scrap materials together into shades of greens, browns, tans, and beiges and stitched them together using our “American boro” technique to create an abstract patchwork* that evokes one of the fundamental elements of all life.
For the body fabric we’ve selected off-cuts from our manufacturing of military equipment covers. We think the sturdy green nylon canvas pairs well with the earth tone themed patchwork. For the lining we are using a water-resistant satin weave nylon fabric – it’s unused old stock from a well known outerwear company, and it’s probably too nice to be hiding inside the bag, but it does make for a really nice lining.
And as with our other products, all of the webbing and hardware is unused old stock left over from our contract manufacturing – we get to dig around in several decades worth of inventory to find the coolest stuff that we can and then give it new life.

-About Us-
In 1881 Diamond Brand Gear first came to the heart of the Smokey Mountains. During this time, sewing and craft were a dominant aspect of daily life in Asheville. We got our start in a small, defunct hosiery mill that quickly turned into a thriving factory. When the textile industry began to offshore their facilities, we made it our mission to revive the art of sewing and keep production in the USA. We are committed to the preservation of craftsmanship, the formation of a greener economy, and the creation of durable goods that enhance the experience of all adventurers. Thus the Moonrise Project was born to help elevate our scraps and help the world through Reclaiming, Reusing, and Recreating.
