Diamond Brand Gear held a grand opening Friday for its pop-up factory at 69 Broadway in downtown Asheville. The facility has six professional sewing machines, along with operators who show customers how the legendary outdoor gear is made.
“So, ‘craft gear made here’ is our slogan, and we want to encourage people, for sustainability reasons, to buy and purchase goods that are made in the Carolina mountains to use in the Carolina mountains for your hiking and camping enjoyment,” Diamond Brand Gear vice president of operations Lauren Rash said.
Diamond Brand has been making tents and bags for the military and the Boy Scouts since 1881.
The pop-up factory is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
