Wall Tent Vs. Yurt

Inspired by Turkish and Mongolian nomads, modern day yurts are round structures supported by lattice walls and radial rafters. Yurts’ circular shape allow wind to easily blow around the structures, rather than push against flat walls. Though traditional yurts were covered in felt and animal skins, modern day yurts are typically covered in weatherproofed materials. More enclosed than wall tents, yurts are a popular option among those looking to emphasize the “glam” in “glamping.” However, as Yurts can run upward of $15,000, wall tents are the more affordable option.

Wall Tent Vs. Tipi

First used by indigenous people of the Plains, modern day tipis are cone-shaped structures supported by tilted lodge poles. Similar to yurts, tipis’ circular shape allow wind to easily blow around the structures, rather than push against flat walls. Though traditional tipis were also covered in felt and animal skins, modern day tipis are often covered in canvas. Even less enclosed than wall tents, tipis are on the opposite end of the glamping shelter spectrum than yurts. What tipis lack in space and durability, they make up for in convenience and portability. The decision between wall tents and tipis is really about the design aesthetic you’re after.

Wall Tent Vs. Camper

Here the question is simple: do you want your glamping shelter to move or not? And how much do you want to spend? However, though the convenience of having electricity and other amenities as you travel may be nice, your glamping experiences will be restricted to where you can park your home-on-the-go. If looking for flexibility in where you can get your glamp on, or if you’re on a budget, it’s best to look at one of the other options.

That’s why we give you the option of building your own wall tent, with a more minimal and less permanent wooden frame. We provide you with all the necessary tools (down to the drill bit) and instructions (supported by videos). You provide the can-do attitude and elbow grease.
