OUR APPROACH

For over 150 years, Diamond Brand has bent the arc of industry towards responsible growth rooted in the crafting of durable, beautiful and innovative gear.

In order for our craft to thrive well beyond the next century, we acknowledge that our products, people AND planet must be nurtured with equal importance— a challenge we humbly accept.

At Diamond Brand, our social and environmental responsibility is a part of every decision we make. To help us get there, we follow a multi-prong approach, considering our larger impact rather than solely focusing on generating sales and profit.

We hold ourselves accountable to our family of craftspeople, and our Mother Earth. We measure our success with respect to the Triple Bottom Line (“TBL” or “3BL”), holding ourselves equally accountable to our customers, our family of craftspeople and our Mother Earth.

Our Approach to Business

Our COMMITMENT

From sustainable tents to up-cycled outdoor gear, we craft goods that are durable enough to last through generations of use. With this commitment to sustainability comes the responsibility to honor the natural resources, craftspeople and communities that we are dependent upon.

OUR GOAL: Zero Fabric Waste by 2025

Reduce

  • We make sustainable products that are durable and made to last a lifetime. This means less resources used over time!
  • Our micro-innovating manufacturing techniques allow us to leverage a relatively short production period, making goods as we sell them so that we never waste resources by overproducing.
  • We strive to reduce the amount of virgin material in our fabrics by offering recycled or renewable options that still perform to our high standards.

Repair

  • We believe in prolonging the life of everything we make and we take pride in doing so.
  • If any defect arises due to something we did (or failed to do), we will repair it for you free of charge for the life of the product.
  • We offer replacement parts, care guides, and patch kits for those who need to make small DIY repairs or maintenance.
  • For larger repairs, send in your tent and we’ll make every effort to fix your gear so it can have another life.

Reuse

  • We save every scrap of waste from our cutting room floor and turn it into creative new products as part of our Moonrise Project.
  • We accept back 100% of the tents we sell and give their fabric and components new life through our Revival Tent Rescue refurbishing program.
  • To date, we’ve rescued and reused 3,000 pounds of landfill-bound fabric!

MADE WITH LOVE & CARE

Where others see waste, we see an opportunity for innovation, creativity, and caring. We’ve implemented circular systems to collect and incorporate both post-industrial and post-consumer waste into new products.

In our Tent Revival program, retired tents are returned by past owners and the vintage canvas is crafted into new products, rescuing and reviving our tents and giving them a second life.

We save every scrap of waste from our cutting room floor and turn it into new products as part of our Moonrise Project.

We offer sustainable fabric options for your tent including 100% cotton, hemp and recycled polyester. These fabrics have been tested to meet our rigorous performance standards and evaluated for their environmental impact.

Making a Difference, Together

A few other partnerships that support our sustainability mission: People, Planet, Prosperity.

  • Collaborating with Smartwool for their Second-Cut sock upcycling program.

  • Working with the Worx Project to teach sewing skills to local youth.

  • Partnering with Duke University’s School of Environment to study our tents environmental impact.

  • What’s NEXT on the horizon?

The achievement of our vision is not a road with a clear end, but a lasting journey that we labor towards daily. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to prioritize:

    • Ongoing research and data collection on our waste, consumption, and circularity so we can set targets and continuously improve.
    • Sustainable fabric development, working with responsible, local producers.
    • Collaborating in partnership with like-minded businesses and organizations to address the big-picture of fabric waste.

    Shop Sustainably

Our product designs are a result of over 100 years of innovation, testing and use, leading to the highest quality, most durable outdoor goods that are elegantly simple, repairable, and suitable for a variety of different adventures.

If you share our passion for eco-friendly gear that will last a lifetime, we invite you to explore our sustainability product lines and collections.

    • Moonrise Project: Patchwork fabric created from fabric remnants and scraps from the factory cutting room stitched back together in the tradition of Japanese Boro, a practice of mending garments out of necessity.
    • Revival Tent Rescue: Creative reuse of old, worn-out, canvas tents that are rescued by Diamond Brand and their former owners before reaching a landfill.
